Block 1 QUILT SHOP LANE is done

I have done two block 1's today....there are a lot of pieces but I got there.
I made my own quilt design for the window. I strip pieced a block then cut it up to make a pinwheel.

Here is "Nancy's Cupboard" quilt shop to SWAP

And then there is "A Quilter's Home"  for me to keep.

I have also made two block 4's but they still need embellishing. Photos to come.....

I have put my 3 Pinwheel Flower blocks.. No 14, 15 & 16 in the mail to Linda, Deana & Cathy.
Hope they don't take long to reach you and that you are happy with them.

The last Quilt Shop

I finally got the last quilt shop finished.  The pattern is still forth coming, but I wanted you to see what your other choice would look like.

Deana's swap block

I will be swapping this block in January.  It is called Fig Tree Quilts.

Blocks in the mail

Sending out 7 blocks today, as I have a trip to go see my new great-grandson on Wednesday and want to have things done so I don't stress. Deana, Phyllis, Lucy, Tracy, Cathy, Daryl, and Betty, you should have them by the end of the week.

January Pattern - Quilt Shop Lane

Hello everyone!

We are swapping Quilt Shops from Quilt Shop Lane in  January.   You can swap UP TO 5 blocks but are only required to swap 1.

The January pattern will be emailed this afternoon.  I need to add some updated photos to it before I can send it out.  I have altered every one of these babies after making it myself - design changes to make them look better, mostly. Anyway, please be patient for a few more hours after I get home from work.

I think you will find that these quilt shops cater to your creative side. I anticipate we will end up with quite a variety of ideas for a fun swap as we did on the sewing machines.

Here are the rules for Quilt Shop Lane:

1.  Please use white on white or solid white background.  This will help the shops to look like they are all on the same street.

2.  All shops must have a quilt.  Shop #1's quilt is inside the window while the others are 3D and hang outside.  You can use the quilt patterns I have given or come up with your own.  It is totally acceptable to find fabric that looks like a quilt block rather than to piece one.

3.  These blocks have more intricate piecing than the other rows.  Accuracy is critical.  If you struggle too much, it is ok to blanket stitch applique' the windows.  Email me for piece sizes if you need them.  NOTE:  I do have one more shop close to finished and will release the pattern this week.  It has less piecing and more applique' and may be better suited to some of  your technique preferences.

4.  Please give your shop a name with a tag, selvedge edge, machine or hand embroidery - whatever you prefer.

5.  Embellish as desired:  rick rack, embroidery, lace curtains, etc.  Button door knobs are way cute.

December Blocks to Swap!

I hope you all had a wonderful December and Christmas!  I am looking forward to lots of quilting and other good things in 2015 and hope you are too.

Here is how the random swap turned out for December:

There were a few places I had to switch because of someone drawing duplicate blocks or ladies getting their own blocks.  They are highlighted in the color I switched them with.  Ann drew two of her own blocks; Betty, Phyllis, Lucy, & Vickie drew their own blocks; and Cathy and Lorri drew matching blocks.

Di's block

Di has a block to swap too!

Vickie received her iron block.

Yay!  I think all of the iron blocks made it to their new homes and are accounted for.  December mailing was crazy!

Deana: swapping 2 more

I have decided to swap two more blocks.  I want a little more variety in my fabrics for this row and swapping more will do just that.

Denise is done!

Denise made this cute little block to swap!

Finally Done

After a marathon day of sewing I finally finished all of these blocks.  I love them all.

And this one is to swap.

Cathy - Flower Blocks Done

Deana, my friend,  I love your designs, but these gave me fits!  Lol....always a challenge.  These are my first blocks.  I messed up using my 60 degree ruler and so they had to be trimmed to size.  Therefore,  I'll be keeping both of these blocks.

After that, I got the ruler working right and the centers are measuring a perfect 5-1/2" but those side triangles are not my friends.  But I think they'll work.  I'm keeping the top on of the next set and swapping the bottom.

Today I tried again.  Same issues as last night.  But I can make them work.  I'm keeping the top left one and the yellow one under it and am swapping the rest.

I hope they work for whoever gets them!  These are making me nervous!  :)

Cathy

Lucy made 5 blocks to swap!

Lucy put yo-yos for her centers.  She is swapping 5 flowers.

Linda Th has a block done!

Here is a half look at Linda's block, but you can see what it looks like.

Cheryl's December Exchange blocks

Talk about just getting in under the wire....  I just finished my December exchange blocks.  December is a crazy busy month, then, when Christmas was over, I just couldn't get my mojo going to sew anything.  I did start these in December.  Thanks for extending the deadline.  Here are my 2 blocks to exchange.  I'm not keeping either of these, since, I can always make more.  I didn't do the 'alternate' blocks, since I used striped fabrics, and, I didn't think the stripes as the background fabric would look good, since they  would be going all different directions.  Don't worry, I didn't waste the extra triangles, I just can't show what I'm doing with them yet.

I still need to sew the buttons on, but, that won't take very long.  It gives me an excuse to watch a movie with hubby, later.

Block recieved from Jo

I just arrived home from vacation to find Jo's lovely block in the mail that had been held by the PO.   And with it came a lovely little Christmas card that she had made.
