BETSY SUE & PICKET FENCE is DONE

I have worked very hard today cutting and piecing.. I still need to do all the hand stitching but that will happen later..

I made only 2 Betsy Sues with the Australian flag. I still need to add a frame around the flag. I only did 2 because my quilt isn't going to be as wide. I will do all the calculations and add in places if I need to. I kept with the red, white and blue. Still sticking with a similar theme to you all.

Next up was the picket fence. Wow it is a big fence. I thought I had enough of one fabric but didn't. Then I added a lighter fabric to finish off. That hasn't really worked too well. It blends too much with the fence. I will need to do a but of outline stitching to help it stand out. I have added some climbing roses which I will raw edge appliqué. I've even added a bird house.  It is cute...

I then went back to last months Spring SAL and joined up the houses. I used the left over picket fences to join them and added some trees, a dog and then the lines for the quilts.. Hand stitching needs to be done but at least the row is now together...

I never made a Sue block before, this was super fun!

Betsy Sue Ross row complete

This row is smaller than the pattern, as I am making a smaller quilt. It measures the same length as the bird houses. The frames are also smaller, as the fabric is from my scrap bins and was already smaller than the width suggested. As I measured and re-measured, I decided that they would work. I loved this row!!

The flags are from a fat quarter that was in my Americana stash, and it does not have 13 stars, but nothing I have has the circle of stars, so I went with this.

On a roll . . .

 

Other than detail work, all three of my "Betsy"s are done.

September Americana released today...Spring is coming.

I just sent out Americana for September today.  Spring is coming - hopeful for tonight or in the morning.

If you think you should have received the Americana pattern but did not, please email me or leave a comment so I can follow up.  I have been a bit crazy of late and may have made errors in my record keeping.

Just made it in the nick of time this month.
Waiting to determine what size I want to make the quilt before sewing the blocks together and appliqueing the birdies.  I had fun playing with Deana's great block pattern and fussy cutting a bandana print!
