Moira - Jan update
No blocks to swap from me this time. Life has been too busy, so I'll have to buy the next block.
Hopefully Feb. will cooperate better, and I'll start to finally feel better after heading to the ENT to get this 5 month old infection under control and gone.

Susan: One Block to Swap
I can only wish this were made on my hand crank Singer. It needs a bobbin cover that fits. This is The Quilted Horse, but there's no place for words, so the quilt works like the old Amish signs - a picture of what the store is.
Cheryl's Quilt Shop blocks finished
I made 2 quilt shop blocks, one to trade, one to keep. Both blocks were made on my 1959 Singer Spartan hand crank.
I've made all my other blocks on this same machine, but, I had been using the motor on the machine instead of the hand crank. It's much more fun to sew with the hand crank instead of the motor.
Notice the vintage sewing machines in the window quilt blocks. If I ever have a quilt shop, it will have LOTS of my vintage sewing machines in the shop, too.

Quilt Shops - Cathy
I got so excited when this month's pattern came from Deana because each shop pattern
has a place for a tiny quilt to hang. I knew immediately that I wanted
to play with my Dear Jane software and miniaturize some blocks to be the
quilts in my blocks. Yesterday I printed up my patterns and last night
I put together this little guy. This is D-10, Battlefield.
After
I made it, I realized that I had made it to finish at 3-1/2" when it is
supposed to finish at 3". I trimmed it to 3-1/2" which is what you see
above. It looks like when I use it to make my quilt shop that the
outside coral plaid will disappear. Most likely this one will end up on
a shop I keep because of that error. I did reprint my other patterns
this morning so they'll be the right size. Don't you just love it???
I'm so excited about this. Can't wait to get home tonight and start the
next block.

flower block received
Thank you Cathy for the beautiful block and sweet note! It looks gorgeous on my design wall with the other flowers in the garden.
Quilt Shop Lane
It is amazing what I can accomplish without the help of toddlers. These are the blocks I am trading
And these are the blocks I am keeping
These cute shops were fun to make, but definitely had to use my seam ripper more than once.
Here is my Seam That Seam strip
And here is my Pinwheel Flowers strip
The variation in size of blocks is very interesting. This will be a fun quilt to join and quilt.
Daryl's Quilt Shop Blocks
Here are the quilt shop blocks I made. The first block below is the block I am swapping.
This is the block I made to swap. The little quilt that hangs on the shop can be set on point like this or... |
...set straight like this. Whoever receives this block can decide which way they prefer it and tack it place on the block. |
I made this block and added rickrack with French knots on the gable end of the roof. |
The little quilt on the shop is not on point like in the above photo. I am not sure which way I will place the little quilt. Perhaps one will be on point and the other not. |
Here is another style of quilt shop. Again I added rickrack to the roof. Instead of a little quilt in the window, I fussy cut a sewing machine from a sewing notions print fabric. |

I got mail......
AUSTRALIA POST has delivered my 2 blocks.
Block 40 from Lucy. I love the Suffolk puff. The block is also more green and yellow than it appears.
Block 48 from Deana. I just love the polka dot button.
I am very happy my blocks are very different than the ones I have made. Just waiting on one more now.
I can't believe they are so much smaller than the quilt shop. I may have to make some more.

Block 4 Quilt shop is done
I have finished the embellishing on my next blocks. I decided to do block 4. I have done them the same fabrics but different embellishing. The one with the black writing is mine to keep and the other is to swap. I found a cute little scrap I could use as the quilt so a Christmas theme it was.
Hope everyone else has fun with these blocks.
This one is to swap
And this one is for me to keep
