I actually got them done in time..

I finally had some time to do some sewing for me. All day. It was so good.
I am doing my quilt a little bit skinner than the pattern so there will be some differences when it is finished... Oh we are so close....

Judi's Americana and Spring rows

Here are my purple mountains majesty  mostly batiks. I plan on adding amber waves of grain and sea to shinning sea.
And only one birdhouse for now. I'm trying to get two quilts ready for a show and I forget how much time that takes:)

Here are my birds for the Spring row by row. Somehow I messed up & cut them wrong so they were too small. Oh well, I guess you can always find a way to fix it. So I added more fabric. Sewed a little here & there & they came out just the right size.  I'm thinking that I'll embroider some legs & maybe add a bit more tail on the blank spot to the left so they have more of a wing.

Here are my purple mountain row! I had a blast doing this row. I actually got the whole row done!

It is absolutely adorable.
I'm pretty please with the way my color choices came out.
Looking forward to getting this top finished.

Patriotic update

It's a little hard to see the "mountain" row, but the top covers my queen size bed.

Thank you everyone for all your positive comments. I am very happy with how this quilt is coming together.

January blocks

My quilt will have a section with 1 bird and 2 birdhouses.
My Americana quilt will have one mountain.  A patriotic mountain.  I used a stripe fabric instead of piecing strips.

Purple Mountains Majesty

That was my first thought when I got this pattern for row 7. I love this row.
So much so, I did this on Saturday . . .

My plan is to add the last three rows on Sunday.
Thank you Deana :)

Mountain Row Finished

I am in love with this row! It has everything I love about the mountains - purple as the sun moves low, blue the way they look in the distance in the desert, wildflower strips, birds flying, desert sand ... Just a wonderful conglomeration of lights and shadows. My favorite row so far - and finished the earliest ever, too! Sorry it's crooked, but if I straighten it more, I lose the sides.

I'm finally putting things together and finishing parts that I didn't finish for the schoolhouse row. I've rearranged things slightly, and row 1 - the fireworks - isn't done yet, either, but I'm really happy about the way it looks so far.

Oops! I took that picture before I did this with the birdhouses:

Final Row

I decided not to do the mountains for my final row. The reason is that my sister, Dorine, gave me this flag many years ago when I was going to do an Americana quilt. As I said before, I never found a pattern that I liked, so never got it made. This was the perfect time and pattern to use the flag, so here is my final row:

Because my quilt is smaller, I made the sashing rows narrower also.

Can't wait for February and the pattern for the side stars.

January SPRING ROW is now emailed!

Yes, I actually got it out today.  It has been a bit more work, but it is ready.  I think you will find it simple to make (hope so).  I did.

Enjoy!

January row releases

Hello row quilters!  I hope your Christmas was a nice one.  We had a white one at our house which was wonderful.  We made it through our December wedding which was a challenge because my father-in-law died the same week.

We spent Christmas break snowboarding up the canyon, shooting clay pigeons, and four wheeling in the trucks in the snow.  It was wonderful to have both of my married daughters join us with their husbands.

I emailed the Americana pattern out early this morning.  It includes yardage needed to finalize the quilt "Stars and Stripes" borders.

The Spring Quilt pattern is not out yet.  I have been sick for two days and have not been able to make up some test blocks.  Usually I don't, but the bird and birdhouse are pieced different from most of my patterns and need a test run.

February 1st I will release border and final assembly patterns, and this journey will end.  Thanks for all your support.

Happy Sewing!
