Quilter's Garden Top Complete

My last post was before I got the rows put together. It took longer than I thought, as I decided to add embellishments to the Quilts on the Line blocks. That turned out to be really fun!
I added flying birds above the clothesline. They are blue and don't show up well in the picture. I keep thinking that they are stray pieces of thread. Haha I also added Lavendar flowers at the base of the clothesline poles. The mini quilts will be added after the top is quilted. That will add a lot more color and fun to it.

The birdhouse and bird were really fun to make. Again, flowers at the bottom of the fence. I still may add some other detail to the tree blocks, but haven't done that yet. I am not sure what I want to add.
I had a hard time getting a good close-up of the rows all sewn together, to I broke it into sections. I wasn't sure how I  would like putting so many different sizes of blocks together, but now that it is all put together, I love it!!

And the finished product. Well almost, anyway. I will add buttons, washers and mini quilts after it is quilted. But that may be years. My goal is to have a quilt for each of my 13 grandchildren for their High School Graduation. So far 3 have graduated and I still have 6 tops to make. This one goes to granddaughter #5, who is 10 years old now. They still need to be quilted, but I still have time.
This has been a really fun project. It has been fun sharing blocks will all of you. I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as I have. Thank you for your beautiful blocks. They have really added to the fun of this quilt. And thanks especially to Deana for her talents which you are so willing to share with us---the design, the swaps, the many hours of work it has created for you, and for keeping us all on track.

Block received

Yesterday I received my block in the mail. It came from Linda Th in Texas, rather than Denise. The blocks were marked wrong when they were posted, but she said they decided to send the blocks that were pictured. THANK YOU Linda. I love it, and the mini quilt is just darling.
Goal for today, get my rows set! I have my 26 chevrons made, but can't sew them together until I have the rows together.

Quilts in the Garden Blocks Done

I had a day off yesterday and got my blocks finished. They were very easy to do, but with an almost 2 year old helper, not so easy to do. So had to wait to finish while the little ones were not here.
I will be keeping these 3

 And swapping this one.
I have not finished off the lines from the trees, as they will be strung onto the adjoining block. I have one more mini quilt nearly done, and may do another, depending on what I get from the swap.

Blocks received

I received both my lovely pin cushions from Jo (in Australia) in today's mail. I love the "pin heads". They are tiny flowers and are just adorable. THANK YOU so much. I love them. The spacers are great, too. They will all go together nicely with those I made and kept.
Jo, I am so glad they were in plastic, as the envelope was torn and an edge of the plastic was exposed. The blocks are clean and in perfect condition.

I mailed the blocks out to Phyllis and Jo yesterday. Since Jo is in Australia, it will take a while, but Phyllis should get hers this week.

Pin Cushion Blocks Done

I have finished my pin cushion and "between" blocks. They were fun to make, but finding the beads was a little difficult. I ended up buying a bag of mixed sizes and colors, then choosing what I wanted from the selection.
Here are the blocks
Pin Cushions

"Between and half betweens"
I will be trading 2 of each. These are the selections to trade

Block Received

I received my beautiful block from Lyn today, and since it would not post before, I am posting it here. I got a glare, so you can't see the embroidered frame around the window on the door. The sign says "Quilt Shop". Thanks Lyn, it will go well with the rest of my blocks.

Also, I have my blocks all cut out for the pin cushions and spacer blocks. Except for the background material, I have used scraps for everything else. Family legend  has it that Dorinda saved all scraps larger than a dime. Well, I don't save them quite so small, but I do save little pieces, and the 1 1/2 inch squares used up a bunch of little pieces.

Quilt Shop Lane

It is amazing what I can accomplish without the help of toddlers. These are the blocks I am trading

And these are the blocks I am keeping
These cute shops were fun to make, but definitely had to use my seam ripper more than once.
Here is my Seam That Seam strip

And here is my Pinwheel Flowers strip
The variation in size of blocks is very interesting. This will be a fun quilt to  join and quilt.
