Granny Annie's Garden Rule 13

As you know I'm not doing the quilt but still following the rules. I've made quite a few wall quilts so decided to do a tablerunner this time. The binding is my third green tone.

Rule 9 - Granny Annie's Garden

Finally finished Rule 9. Not doing a quilt so made a "banner" for over my living room picture window. It measures 96 x 12 inches (no wonder it took me so long). Too wide to get a picture of the whole thing so here is the right & left sides plus a closeup of one of the blocks. The center block is the multi sized blocks - there are 2, 3, 4 & 6 inchers put together to equal the 12 inch.

Checking In

This is Granny Annie here. I've been MIA for awhile but getting back on track. Just looked at everyone's finishes - some awesome quilts are being created. It's taking me forever to finish Rule 9 but the end is in site. Hopefully 10 won't take as long as 11 is due out this week - Yikes! Hope everyone is having a good Labor Day weekend. Hugs, annmarie

Granny Annie's Garden (Wallhanging), Rule 8

I love paperpiecing so this was a fun rule. I need to admit I cheated just a little - this was a UFO sitting in my closet - I already had the tulip made. But it has a yellow daffodil & was so fun to make. Will be great on my wall come next Spring or maybe as a tablerunner. Can't wait to see what rule 9 brings.

Rule 6 - Granny Annie's Garden

Well I've decided to make Rule 1-5 into a wall quilt instead of continuing with a bed size quilt. But I will continue to do each rule and technique - the only difference will be the size. So here is my Rule 6 with a wonky house & a curved pieced lawn. This is the first time I've done a curved piece & I'm glad I did - have always wanted to. So this will be a mini:

Granny Annie's Garden Rule 5

To the left is my Rule 5 and to the right is Granny Annie's Garden now.

I'm not sure where I'll go from here. I joined the Dorinda challenge to commit to doing techniques I would not normally do. I have no need for an appliqued bedsize quilt. I love what I've done so far & think it would make a great wall quilt (I have just the right spot for it too!) I may do that but continue to complete each rule making mini quilts or combining a few into another wall quilt. I need to think on it all a little more. Sure is fun though! We'll see..........

Granny Annie's Garden Rule 5 Tease

I'm posting my circle as my tease. It will only be 1/3 of my whole Block 5 but it's going to take me forever to finish the block as that is alot of space to cover. First time I've ever sewn a pieced circle - not perfect but I'm happy with it.

Granny Annie's Garden rule 3

The 5x20 size was challenging but here it is. I used velvet for the birdhouse opening & embroidered all the flowers & vines.

Block 2 teaser

I just had to go take a picture of the first row (? still to be determined!) of my block #2. this is going to be a very time consuming block - very tiny pieces. My theme is granny Annie's garden & the block will go underneath the sunflower block. I'll bet you can guess what it is.

First Block Completed

Well here is my first block, a lovely sunflower for my garden with lots of flying geese admiring it! Can't wait to start the second one.

Another annmarie

Granny Annie's Garden Mystery:
Hi - my name is annmarie!!! I learned about this mystery on Ann Marie's blog (Star in a Star Mystery) where I have been lurking for quite some time! My real spelling is also Ann Marie but for all quilty purposes I use annmarie. I see there is also an Ann T. and my last name starts with T also. Amazing that 3 Ann's ended up here.

I live in Rhinelander Wisconsin whick is quite far north - Brrrrrrrrrrr! We have LOTS of snow right now. I live on a lake in the country with my hubby & 14 yo dog, Buzzy. My only child & his wife live right down the road which is wonderful! No grandchildren, boo hoo! but I am a surrogate granny to a friend's twins whose real granny is far away in California so I get my baby fix with the 2 princesses - they just turned one.

So that is where the name of my mystery comes from - at the babies' house I am known as Granny Annie. Besides quilting I have many flower gardens & a veggie garden too.

I love the names of all the Mysteries & look forward to watching the themes develop. What fun!!!
