Pam's Woods Mystery

Rule 7 doesn't look too dimensional, but it is the tumbling block pattern.
Rule 8 doesn't look too much like a treet to me but it is actually paper-pieced using the Weeping Willow paperpieced pattern from Quilters' Cache by Marcia Hohn.

I am having a little trouble posting. I hope it goes through this time. This mystery has really been a challenge for me, but I have really enjoyed participating in it and looking at everyone's themes and interpretations of the rules. I am also looking forward to seeing everyone's finish and hope we can do this again next year.

Woods Mystery Rule 6 - finally

I really had a lot of trouble with my pieced curves. I was finally able to get it look ok. There are a little puckers but they will quilt out. I may cover them with trees or something. The rest of you seemed to do so well with yours.

I finally sewed it to the other rules and now I can move on to rule 7. Yippeeeee.

Pam's Woods Mystery Rule #5

I will post my tease first even though I am late with it.

This is the sewn circle. I really had to think about this one. This has been exciting.

I did the thread painting on the sewn circle. I don't know how well you can see it in the pic.

Here is my rule #5 completed. I also did some thread painting with smoke coming out of the chimney. It shows up a little better than the yellow on the circle.

This is all of my rules combined. It was a little scary for me to add the blue for the sky, but I am now glad that I have done it. It will give me a little more liberty on the rest of the blocks and might be able to put some water or a stream in there now.

Thanks again to the daughters of Dorinda for hosting this fantastic mystery. Also, thank you to everyone who is posting their blocks. I get so excited everytime I see a new one. Everyone's quilts are going to be so wonderful.

Pam's Woods Mystery Rule #4 reveal

I can't believe that reveal day is finally here. This has been like waiting for Christmas. I used the needleturn to do the positive/negative.
It really was a challenge to do something that would blend well with the rest of my blocks.

Pam's Woods Mystery Rule #4 Tease

I really had to think hard about this. I really didn't have appique or handwork in my mind when we first started out. I may have made my first block a little different if I had really thought about it. Now, I just need to make sure to keep the color scheme going so everything will go together in the end. I don't want one block to stick out more than the other. So here is my tease.

Pam's Woods Mystery Rule #3

It took me all this time to come up with something that would meet the rule and go with my blocks. I'm kinda slow sometimes! LOL The part that I would not normally use is a very small piece of blue and red material. For embroidery, I used rust and green vines going throughout the piece. I don't know how well you can see it.

I am going to try to post my picture of all rules together. I am not too good at this yet, so please bear with me. I seem to be the only one who doesn't know how to put tw pitures in the same post. LOL

Woods Mystery Rule #2

I think I have at least one real hexagon in my block. It's kinda primitive, but the members of this group are the only ones who will know what it was supposed to look like. LOL

Pam's Woods Mystery

I have finally finished my first block with the geese, but I cannot seem to get my picture to load. I was so excited to have it finished so I could get the next rule. Everyon's blocks look so nice.

I was able to load Pam's picture.  Good Job, Pam!!

My Theme

I joined the mystery today and I am really excited about it. I have never heard of anything quite like this. I chose a "woods" theme. I have been quilting for over 30 years and have seen quilting come a long way. Just when I think there couldn't be anything new, someone comes up with an idea like this. Just two more days and we will have our first clue.
