Finished just under the radar!

I really enjoyed these fun little flowers.  Everything Deana creates is very thought provoking and versatile.  Her designs amaze me!  I will be swapping these two blocks.  Also thank you TRUDIE for the great iron you sent me last month along with the added gift.  That was a sweet surprise  that will be used often.

January: Quilt Shop Lane

How was your Christmas?  Mine was wonderful.  It is so nice to have my daughter home from her mission and the whole family together again.

Let me reveal to you "Quilt Shop Lane", the newest row for the Quilter's Garden.  I just don't think a quilt about quilting would be quite right without quilt shops.  I have more details to add and some constructional changes to make, but here is the sneak peak on where we are headed for the month of January.

I am changing the windows on the first shop below and maybe adding a roof to the second.  Sometimes things just don't come out right the first time.

As a reminder, late comers are welcome to this mystery.  If you make and swap at least one block then you get the next month's pattern for free.  Previous patterns are available in my Craftsy shop or Etsy Shop.

Just in time for an early Christmas gift I received my block from Pam in Texas in today's mail. It is a sweet block. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

December swap DATE EXTENSION

Hello from my home to yours.  I hope you are having a fabulous Christmas season!  I hope you have all your many projects done and ready to go as well.

Because December is such a busy month,  I wish to extend the swap deadline to Sunday, January 4th.  I will release the new pattern on Monday the 5th as well as reveal the swap information at that time.  I hope this extension will reduce a little stress for some of you.

Happy quilting!

Change my swap block.

Hello to all of you Quilter's Garden Members.  I hope your holiday season is wonderful.  Mine is not white - darn.

I have been bothered by this flower to swap.  It just isn' t good enough - not enough contrast.  I will keep it and probably not use it.

I will swap this one instead.  I love it but have the match to it, so I can let it go.

Flower Blocks

I made one of the flower blocks and it came out okay, although the measurements are a bit larger on one side then they are supposed to measure and I am not sure what happened. I also had some trouble with marking the correct angles of some of the pieces and so I didn't make a matching opposite block because I screwed up the marking and cutting. I decided to try again and this time I had trouble with the center cupping like a mountain! I pressed it and it was better but not perfect. So don't worry I will be keeping that one. I finally figured out that with the cutting and sewing and re-cutting and sewing that my measurements must have gotten thrown off with each step. I was going to just give up and not bother with making any more, but decided I should try to just sew the triangles together and not make the inner spin pieces which would have involved more marking, cutting and sewing, and that I obviously am not be doing very well. I liked making these and they came out the correct size. Since these 2 blocks are different from the flower block choices that we could choose to make, I will keep them for myself. Anyhow here is what I ended up making~

The block above is the block I am swapping.
This block came out cupped in the center! Arg. So I will keep this one.
I didn't add the center fabrics on this and the other block to keep it simple. This block was easier to sew and get right for me. I added a folded flower with a button for the center. I will sew those on after the quilt is completed so it doesn't get in the way of the quilting.
This is the opposite color placement.
Both side-by-side.
The folded flower with button and apparently the thread of the fabric got in the photo too, lol!!!

Hello Quilt Gardners!  Page 5 step 4 of this month's flower patterns had an incorrect photo on it.  I corrected it and sent it out to all of you (except Denise's email didn't seem to work).  Anyway, under step 4, the picture is supposed to look like this one instead.  Thanks.

December blocks complete

I completed 10 blocks for the December Pin

wheel Flowers.
I will be keeping these first 3. They have some flaws and I don't want to send them on to someone else. I will remind you all to read the instructions carefully, at least twice, before you cut or sew. :-D
These next 7 I will trade.
These were fun and easy, as long as the directions are followed closely. Thanks again Deana, for your creativity!

I mailed my steam that seam block (#7) to Elmo, Utah this morning.

Blocks in the mail

Blocks # 4 & 5 are on their way to Iowa and Texas. They should be there by Thursday!

Buttons

I got the buttons picked out for my flower centers.  Here are all of the blocks I have made.  I have not yet decided which ones to swap.

The pattern went out in the emails today so look for it.  There are three types of flowers to choose from.  The "folded insert" flowers require an applique' center to cover up raw edges.  I do require that you put a center on all SWAP flowers whether it be applique', button, or other embellishment.

I hope you enjoy making December flowers.

Cathy - November Blocks in the Mail

I got my email concerning my November blocks just as I was about to leave for work, so I grabbed them off my design wall and they are in the mail.  I'm sending this one to Betty...

And this one to Lucy...

Hope y'all enjoy them!!!'

Cathy

November Swap is here!

I just want to thank you all again for participating.  I am having so much fun seeing your blocks each month.

Also, the pattern is ready for December but I won't get those emails out until this afternoon.

Please try to have your blocks in the mail on or before Monday the 7th.

Here is the way the random drawing came out this month:

Betty managed to draw her own block, so I used a random number generator and traded her places with #8.

Here are the photos of all the blocks for you to see which one you will receive.
