I've been looking at a lot of 3-d ideas since I started my Optical Illusions mystery quilt, so I'll give you a few links to look at to get some ideas.
Attic windows is a 3-d pattern:

Here is a tumbling block tutorial:

Another idea is on this site. Look at the 5th quilt down, entitled "3D Squares" by Moran Arft and Quilts:

Or how about this "tesselated" pattern. It's the 4th picture down in pink and green

Here is another tumbling block (a little more complicated than the first one)

Check out this "Op Art" quilt:

Look at the cool 3-d quilt on this site

I hope this will give you some ideas and help you get started. Good luck and have fun!

Marie,
Thanks so much for the links. I'm sure they will be very helpful.
Yes, thank you for the links. I have a couple of ideas, so will see where it leads me.
Thanks so much Marie! I know exactly what to do now! Oh, and thanks for the call too, we're sad that you're moving though. But I am moving up there too in August, so we won't be too far, funnilly enough. Hehe, we can still oggle at eachother's quilting!
Marie, thanks for all the ideas! I have the perfect panel for an attic window. Can't wait to get started.
