Marie's Optical Illusion Rule 4

I'm happy our reveal date is here and am excited to see what each of you have done with Rule #4--and I can't wait to see what the next rule will be.

My block is machine pieced except for the circles (really ellipses), which are needle turn applique.  Three of them are actually reverse applique and one is regular applique.   I used the basting method of needle turn and find that it is the method that works best for me unless the pieces are really small.

Here is my complete quilt so far.  I'm not sure I'm really excited about how this last block goes with the rest of it, but I hope that as I add more blocks it will look better.

Beautiful work as usual, Marie. I like how the positive/negative gives an illusion of a smaller block next to a larger one. I know they are actually the same size, but it doesn't appear that way.

I think you will really like this one -- it'll grow on you.

It looks good and it is very interesting to look at.

I love it! I'm sure you will like it fine as the quilt grows and there is more variety. I like it already!

You are doing such a fantastic job. I love your blocks, and how you followed the technique and rule so completely. The whole thing is so beautiful, and your block placement is really attractive.

You are going to have a show quilt when you finish. Your work is great.
