SIZE: Make a 20” x 5” unit. This means that it will measure 20 ½” x 5 ½” when you measure it now, and it will become 20” x 5” when it is finished. When this unit is finished add it to EITHER the RIGHT or LEFT SIDE of the quilt (your quilt should already be 20 1/2" tall so this piece will fit perfectly).
RULE: “Use a color or fabric you would never normally use. "
TECHNIQUE: embroidery (hand or machine)
IDEAS: Your #3 unit is not limited to just an embroidery technique, but there needs to be some on it somewhere. There are many hand embroidery stitches. You can do any combination of them or use your embroidery machine if you have one. Another option that comes to my mind is free-motion embroidery -- take your pick.
DUE DATE: Monday February 21, 2011.
Post a picture of #3; please post a photo of just the #3 unit ALONE.
THEN…
J O I N the units: Join the #3 unit to either the RIGHT or LEFT side of the quilt and then post a final picture of them together.
HAVE FUN!

Fun fun fun!!!! Can't wait to get started - now onto finding orange fabric in my scrap stash....even tho' I hardly ever use it (not my fave color) I'll bet I have some inthere somewhere....
I will have to look through the orange as well.....it is a very tiny little pile compared to all the other colors of the rainbow.
Orange seems to be the popular color of non-use this morning. I, too will have to look at my stash and scraps and see what I can come up with. I do have an idea about what I will do. We will see how it turns out.
I can't think of another color besides orange that I don't use except for one FQ that I have never used because I don't even know what color to call it. I'll have to decide which to use--orange or something strange. This will be another challenging block for me if I can pull off what I'm planning.
My UNFAVORITE color is pink. It is ironic that everyone dislikes orange because it is the favorite color of two members of my family.
Oh, fun! I have something in mind already, though I'm busily embroidering the crazy quilt Rule 2 block right now. How long do we have on this Rule 3?
Susan, Rule 3 is due Mon Feb 21.
No 'sneak peak' pictures this time? We can picture the whole block?
I love all colors and can't think of one I never use. A FABRIC I wouldn't normally use would be one that is stained or ripped!! lol. But...scarecrows just don't mind any of that! So the scarecrow part of my brain says......
Betty,
There won't be a sneak peak this time (darn) but we would love for anyone to post their progress and you can sneak peak it if you like.
