I had a difficult time with rule # 3. First of all my good sewing machine decided to quit and I had to take it in for surgery. (motherboard had to be replaced) Then I had to teach myself some machine embroidery stitches, which really don't show up in this picture, but they are going diagonally across the squares in the left-hand strip. After that I had to find a fabric I don't usually use because I do tend to use all colors. Well, what I don't like is pastel and especially florals, so that is the background.
And now having finished all that you want me to do what? Applique? I hate applique...but I will give it a try. The positive/negative idea has me interested.

I can see the embroidery :) and I love those little blocks in the strip--are they pp? Now Birdie, pastels? really? LOL Ah well, I had a rough time choosing a color I didn't use so I went to the stash and yellow was the only thing I couldn't find. Still don't know why because I like it, just don't use it much.

I too can see the embroidery. I really like what you did with the 3rd rule. Your blocks look very nice together.

I love your 3rd rule, and I can see the diagonal embroidery too. The blocks look beautiful together. Glad you got it done. And even though applique is not so fun, it is very rewarding. I keep saying I am not going to do any more, and the I do. So GOOD LUCK!

Hello again Birdie -- so happy to see you post again!! The last we heard from you was a teaser of block #2.

I am so sorry to hear about your sewing machine trials. That would totally shut me down. I like where you added the embroidery. Your starry night is growing nicely.

I think your quilt is turning out very nice. I like the colors. They seem to be very different from everyone else and that is what I like. Actually, I think everyone is going to come out with a very unique quilt. This is exciting.

Your stars are looking really great. You don't like pastels or florals? GASP. You better not look at my stash. It is blooming with florals!

Your rule #3 is great. You found a way to make it all work. I'm glad you were able to get the machine fixed fairly fast.
